Tailoring: Sizing

GrayBox Sizing
The width (left to right) and depth (front to back) of any GrayBox Enclosure can be easily adjusted at a reasonable cost for virtually any quantity. Standard heights fit most rack-mounted applications, while custom heights are practical for orders of 1,000 units or more. Customers may keep the standard GrayBox styling or modify design details to create a unique appearance.

MicroPak Sizing
Each style offers two width options, two height options, and a variable length. The length (front to back) of any MicroPak enclosure can be easily adjusted. For lengths longer than the standard, C-Style should not exceed 15″ (385 mm), and D- and E-Styles should not exceed 24″ (610 mm). For lengths shorter than the standard in any style, material savings can offset setup costs for quantities as small as 10–25 pieces.

Enhanced Electrical Shielding Options

Optimize the performance and reliability of your electrical enclosures with enhancements designed to improve electrical shielding.

Remove nonconductive anodize finishes from flanges, replaced with clear iridite for enhanced conductivity.

Upgrade covers by substituting vinyl-clad aluminum covers with anodized aluminum, featuring iridite-coated inside surfaces.

Add two extra screws to the cover for better electrical contact.

Substitute speed nuts with durable captive nuts for secure and long-lasting assembly.

Finishing Touches – Graphics, Special Finishes, Colors, and Materials

Beginning with camera-ready artwork, provided by you or created by us, Lansing can silkscreen any MicroPak part except the bezel and any GrayBox part with the only limitation being that graphics may not fall within 0.150 in (3.8 mm) of a flange on recessed panels. The cost of one-color silk-screening is reasonable even in small quantities.

01.

Graphic Overlays

A particularly elegant solution which that allow your MicroPak or GrayBox enclosure to take on a distinctive appearance. Our team can assist with the design and specification of graphic overlays for your product. Although we do not manufacture overlays in-house, we have a list reputable vendors who do, some of whom have tooling available for the blanking of all sizes of MicroPak panels. Overlays can be shipped to Lansing for application and secondary mechanical operations. They become cost-effective for GrayBox in relatively small quantities, and for MicroPak in the 250-1,000-piece range depending on the number of colors involved.

02.

Colors

For those who are looking for a custom electronic enclosureLansing offers a catalog of traditional colors. We encourage customers first to look at overlays as a means of satisfying color needs. Beyond that we can paint and, if necessary, mask or mold to your specification. The practicality of some options depends on the quantity.

03.

Special Finishes

The standard GrayBox and MicroPak materials and finishes have been specified carefully but may not be appropriate for all applications.

Special finishes can be specified, and conductive and non-conductive finishes are available on special order for most parts.

04.

Materials

Special materials can also be specified. Vinyl-clad aluminum can be substituted wherever vinyl-clad steel is standard. For MicroPak enclosures, bezels and end caps can be molded in a variety of plastics.
