Tailoring Services – Custom Electronic Enclosures
Configure a standard MicroPak or GrayBox design to create custom electronic enclosures that meet your brand, size, or design needs.
A Simple 4-Step Process to Create Custom Electronic Enclosures
Tailoring involves modifying your MicroPak or GrayBox enclosure, including special sizes, machining, self-clinching inserts, graphics, overlays and special colors, to create an enclosure design that is uniquely yours. Our experienced production staff can provide the details you need to create custom electronic enclosures that bring your vision to life and deliver quality protection at a reasonable cost.

Tailoring: Sizing
GrayBox Sizing
The width (left to right) and depth (front to back) of any GrayBox Enclosure can be easily adjusted at a reasonable cost for virtually any quantity. Standard heights fit most rack-mounted applications, while custom heights are practical for orders of 1,000 units or more. Customers may keep the standard GrayBox styling or modify design details to create a unique appearance.
MicroPak Sizing
Each style offers two width options, two height options, and a variable length. The length (front to back) of any MicroPak enclosure can be easily adjusted. For lengths longer than the standard, C-Style should not exceed 15″ (385 mm), and D- and E-Styles should not exceed 24″ (610 mm). For lengths shorter than the standard in any style, material savings can offset setup costs for quantities as small as 10–25 pieces.
Enhanced Electrical Shielding Options
Optimize the performance and reliability of your electrical enclosures with enhancements designed to improve electrical shielding.
Remove nonconductive anodize finishes from flanges, replaced with clear iridite for enhanced conductivity.
Upgrade covers by substituting vinyl-clad aluminum covers with anodized aluminum, featuring iridite-coated inside surfaces.
Add two extra screws to the cover for better electrical contact.
Substitute speed nuts with durable captive nuts for secure and long-lasting assembly.

Captive nuts, standoffs, or studs.

Cutouts of virtually any shape.

Tailoring: Machining Panels and Self-Clinching Inserts
Installing your electronics in an enclosure requires the addition of mechanical features. Whether those features require machining holes in panels or the installation of self-clinching inserts, Lansing is equipped and organized to do the work in a timely fashion and at a reasonable price.
Offering dedicated drilling, milling, and punching equipment capable of producing cutouts that range from simple round holes to the most complex shapes.
Ability to machine virtually any detail in any part. And when required, we can complete this phase by installing PEM brand self-clinching inserts where you need them.
Usually, machining is done before metal finishing which ensures the parts will have a uniform finish on all surfaces.
Receive the net quantity you have ordered at once – without having to be concerned about or allowing for parts lost in production setup and scrap.
We offer a variety of ways to tailor most parts, so our team can look at your machining requirements and quantities to offer you an effective solution.

Finishing Touches – Graphics, Special Finishes, Colors, and Materials
Beginning with camera-ready artwork, provided by you or created by us, Lansing can silkscreen any MicroPak part except the bezel and any GrayBox part with the only limitation being that graphics may not fall within 0.150 in (3.8 mm) of a flange on recessed panels. The cost of one-color silk-screening is reasonable even in small quantities.
